BEI hosted a 24-person delegation on August 2, 2024, representing binational centers from all regions of Argentina. The delegation, hosted by the U.S. Embassy, and sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, partnered with the executive director, Fulori Kirikiti of GlobalAustin, to bring U.S. Embassy officials, board members and executive directors of the language / culture / educational binational centers to BEI. Through simultaneous translations, the visit entailed roundtable discussions focused on language school management, and non-profit organizations in Houston, the USA, and Argentina. Topics included sustainable resources, funding models, board membership for language schools and non-profits organizations, and related “best practice” issues.

Jake Mossawir, BEI’s CEO, welcomed the group, and began the lively discussions with tips from his current and past experiences. It was fascinating to compare the differing roles of offering donations and volunteerism between Argentina and the USA. Keri Lippe and Rebecca Avrill also joined the roundtable discussions, which was facilitated by Dr. Adria Baker. BEI’s leadership also presented on: 1) BEI highlights, 2) potential collaborations with the various binational centers, 3) BEI’s great in-person and online language courses, and 4) our highly anticipated Intensive Medical English program.
