General characteristics of the Program

BEI's General Language Program provides an introduction to the language and culture of the English-speaking or foreign language speaking world. By the time the students complete the program, they will have acquired a command of the key vocabulary and structures necessary for personal communication as well as an insight into American or foreign customs and values.

Objectives and Philosophy

The basic objective of BEI's English as a Second Language and Foreign Language Program is twofold:

  • To help each student attain an acceptable degree of proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing with a minimum period of time and with a minimum of effort.
  • To present the language within the context of the contemporary English-speaking or foreign language speaking world and its culture.
